150 Ampere breaker is a specific type of circuit breaker. These do not have thermal overload protection, but only magnetic protection. Used in conjunction with NEMA motor starters, thermal protection is provided by the Mag starter. The specific purpose of this MCP type breaker is to provide magnetic overload protection and to avoid nuisance tripping that commonly occurs while starting up electric motors. During motor start up, you have an extra power demand, referred to as, In-Rush power factor.
